Here at Green Meadow Barn Company, we work to stand out from the other businesses around Columbia. An artist takes century old wood from old barns and homes and turns it into magnificent pieces of furniture that are also works of art.

Carolyn Linton has been handcrafting beautiful wood furniture for over 30 years. She takes pride in turning reclaimed wood from historic Missouri barns and homes into something appealing and useful, striving to infuse old wood with new life.

All furniture is built in her workshop in the heartlands, in the picturesque hills of Millersburg, MO. Whether it is an item inspired by Carolyn Linton’s own heart or by her customer’s, each piece is lovingly crafted and rich with history. Her old wood furniture pieces reside in countless homes in Missouri and beyond, and she has been featured in many major Missouri venues.

When I was a little girl growing up on a farm in the heartland, one of my favorite things to do was find pieces of wood that I could put together and build something. Ever since then, I have long respected the beauty, history, and tenacity of the old wooden barns that stand in the countryside. After a season in life of being a teacher, mother, and wife, I now get to enjoy my time gathering wood from these century old farms and houses. I take this wood and build many things—handcrafted harvest tables, hall tables, coffee tables, desks, benches, and more.

By taking the walls and timbers of these cherished 100+ year old buildings and repurposing the wood, I aim to give the trees that once stood tall in Missouri soil a new life. Reclaimed from aging structures, these treasured timbers have an opportunity to live on as a part of our heritage and history. Each of my pieces sports a pewter medallion with an ink sketch of the original building and its age. I write the history on each table, infusing every piece with the history of its wood.

That is my true joy in crafting each piece. As I reshape and hone the wood for another purpose, I enjoy thinking of the strength, courage, and character of the people who built and inhabited these structures.
